Site Planning Update
The North Somerset Local Plan is currently under review due to its failure to meet the housing supply, particularly in terms of cross-boundary housing. During this review, we have been actively promoting our site and have submitted a settlement-wide growth masterplan that includes our site. We are now awaiting the next step in the review process, which is scheduled for late 2022 and early 2023.
In addition, the government has approved plans to merge Somerset’s five councils into a single unitary council, including Sedgemoor. This change will take effect in April 2023 and will provide us with an opportunity to present our site and masterplan to the new planning authority.
Furthermore, Sedgemoor has expressed interest in utilizing the site to alleviate traffic congestion caused by tourism traffic to caravan sites in the north. We will continue to engage with the council regarding this matter.
